New Member of the Family

Behold, the Beehive Osterizer!  As our smoothie mania continues to reach new and ever more bizarre heights (I'm currently perfecting my own homemade version of the Naked Juice "Green Machine"), Michael and I both felt we needed slightly better equipment.  We had an old plastic carafe Oster blender that had started to leak a little and the base of the carafe was cracked simply from years of use.  In the beginning, it probably set us back about $25.00, so we figured we'd gotten enough margaritas and smoothies out of it to make our investment pay off.

We did some review-reading and finally decided on the Classic Beehive Osterizer.  Once you get past the $50.00 mark, folks, a blender is just a blender.  I know some people swear by their $400.00 Vitamix blenders, but I suppose they'd have to after spending that much money on them.  I mean, wouldn't you feel like kind of a fool for spending half a paycheck on what basically amounts to a small motor with a steel blade mounted to it?

I like the simplicity of this one.  You switch it on, you switch it off, you pulse it.  No big whoop.  The carafe is thick heavy glass, the base is a stylish chrome plated metal, and the lid of the carafe is substantial heavy black plastic.  Here, we see the new Osterizer powering its way through frozen mango chunks, two bananas, some plain kefir, and orange juice.  Now, the only thing left is to name our new blender.

Hmmm... My Hamilton Beach sucks. couldn't blend water. Vitamixes are wonderful tools though. But I applaud the simplicity of your choice. I might need to look into this Beehive.
